Volunteer for Carmah

Carmah is 100% volunteer run!
Community involvement is the most effective way to address cat homelessness in the Hudson/Marlborough area.

Carmah volunteers donate anywhere from an hour or two a week to more, depending on their availability and the needs of the particular job they choose to do. We are flexible about your schedule. However, if you sign up for a particular job, we expect you to show up, or rather, our cats are counting on you!
Volunteers under age 18 need to supply an adult supervisor; we ask both the young volunteer and their adult to fill out a volunteer form.

Some of our volunteer opportunities are:

Petsmart Volunteer
Interact with our cats at Petsmart: socialize with them and keep their cages tidy.

Intake Volunteer
Work with cats in our intake center, some of them a little challenging. Socialize with them if they are interested, feed, clean, sometimes medicate. We ask for a weekly or every-other-week commitment.

Administrative Volunteer
Help out from the comfort of your own home with phone calls, database entry, and other desk-side tasks.

Transportation Volunteer
Drive cats locally --  perhaps to the vet, to another foster home, or to Petsmart. We occasionally need help with longer rides, for example to local airports and back. You need to provide the car.

Trapping Volunteer
Join our trapping team to rescue homeless cats, all of which will receive medical care from us. Some will eventually go back where we found them, some will get a job as a working cat, and some will be tame enough to go into our adoptions program. We will train you!

Special Events/Fundraising Volunteer
We are looking for a few good folks who can lead one (or more) fundraisers - creativity important, experience a plus! If you are unable to make a  frequent commitment to the rescue, this is a great way to lend a helping hand!

Behavioral Counselor
Many cats are surrendered due to behavioral issues. With the proper guidance, many owners would keep their cats. The ideal folks for this position will either have a knowledge of cat behavior issues or be willing to learn, and who will also make contact in follow up to check on how things are going.

Other Volunteer Opportunities
The possibilities are endless! If you can help with photography, graphic design, public relations, or you have a skill we don't know we might need, we would love to hear from you.
